The Graham Kendrick Guitar

“I have owned a lot of guitars and this SL has to be among the best. I want them to sound excellent both acoustically in my music room and plugged in. This does both effortlessly.”

What Graham has to say about his Lakestone:

I have owned a lot of guitars and this SL has to be among the best. I want them to sound excellent both acoustically in my music room and plugged in. This does both effortlessly.

My regular sound engineer loves how easy it is to e.q. and is impressed by the evenness and balance across all the strings. It’s very responsive - gentle finger picking immediately produces a lovely tone and the dynamics are there in abundance for digging in harder. Some guitars ‘choke up’ when strummed energetically but this copes easily.

The fan-fret option delivers what I hoped for - a rich and balanced sound across the range especially when using alternate tunings like DADGAD or an open G chord. My fingers hardly notice the difference, but my ears certainly do.

The cutaway allows easy access to the top end frets where the notes ring out bell-like and perfectly intoned. I’ve never owned a guitar with a sound port before, but because I spend a lot of time writing with a guitar on my lap, when the fullest sound is projected away from my ears, it made sense to add this feature. It felt like a bit of a risk, but it works! I feel more involved and enveloped in the sound.

Tony and Samuel - who build these lovely Lakestone guitars - are true artisans who put not only patient and painstaking craftsmanship into their instruments, but heart and soul as well.
