"Musical Art"

Tony and Samuel, luthiers of Lakestone Guitars, provided me with the most amazing experience building this bespoke guitar.

The journey inspired me; allowing me to research and purchase my own preference of woods, with professional guidance and reassurance. The passion, dedication, knowledge and skill of this father-son duo is absolutely something to be desired, never willing to compromise on quality and a sound build. I am so thankful for the journey I went on with these lovely gentlemen. They certainly had to reign me in at times! If you’re looking for something unique and special, I highly recommend Lakestone Guitars for your next piece of musical art.

I'm excited to announce that I am part of the Lakestone family! Thank you to Sam at Lakestone Guitars for the craftsmanship and the support. Anyone looking for a custom built acoustic with care and attention to detail that is second-to-none should check out Lakestone Guitars.

Matt Hill is a musician and song-writer extraordinaire. He is the worship director at !Audacious in Manchester, FOH sound for Martin Smith, part of the Hill Pro Audio family and an all round good guy! Matt plays a Lakestone OM with English Walnut back and sides, Red Western Cedar Top with a cutaway and an L.R. Baggs Anthem Pickup.

"Guitar Addiction!"

A really huge thank you for your time and commitment in going above and beyond the call to ensure this beautiful Lakestone Riverwood is born.

It is sculptured to my playing style and expectations (high I know... a bit of guitarist OCD!) Your final tweaks have really christened this very fine instrument and brought it to life. It’s very comfortable to play and feels like it is part of my soul already. There’s only one thing I’ve discovered about it... it's highly addictive! Lol!! I can’t stop picking it up!!

I held off any further recording and composing until I had the guitar back in my hands. Really looking forward and inspired by the ‘Riverwood’ to create some new music. I believe this will be my main instrument to take me on the rest of my journey.

It’s been a pleasure to have had the opportunity to meet you and I value your skills, time and energy that you have invested in the creation. I hope to keep in touch and look forward to catching up and ramblings on all thinks creative.

"I think I've cured my GAS for once and for all"

Had a weekend away in the Shropshire Hills (UK) for my birthday. Not far from Knighton Music Centre, it would have been rude not to wander in.

I had a budget in mind, if I found the right guitar - looking for something 000 or OM kinda size. Blew my budget completely, paid twice what I had in mind... Tried a load of guitars, great stock of Larrivee, some Guild USA... and the Lakestone range. Handmade by a father and son team near Coventry.

This isn't at all what I thought I wanted. It's a small bodied Jumbo (if that makes sense?), normally I'd think it too large, but the arm bevel, and narrow waist/upper bout made it so comfortable. Red cedar top with Ziricote back and sides.

The sound...ohhhhh, the sound. A chorus of angels singing... It even made me sound good! Did I need to spend that much? No. Does my playing justify spending that much? No. Should I have spent that much? No! Do I now own the most amazing guitar? Yes!

Tony and Samuel have made my dream guitar for me... and then some!

My journey with Lakestone Guitars started with a Lakestone OM which I bought at Knighton Music just before lockdown. I spent many hours during lockdown playing this guitar and it is superb. Since getting back to normality, I had the opportunity to visit them in their workshop in Wolverhampton, which in itself was a wonderful experience, watching real craftsmen at work and to see the process of a guitar being made. Tony is always happy to do jobs like fret stoning or installing a K&K on the OM. My guitar teacher, Phil Harris, had raved about his experience of working with Tony and Samuel to have a guitar made. When I saw his guitar and played it it blew my mind. So the kernel of an idea started to grow.

I wanted a walnut and cedar guitar with a sound port and a fan fret. I was after woods which would give a warm tone, a sound port to hear what was playing in sessions with other instruments, and the fan fret for its ergonomic neck. Once the funds were raised and a deposit paid, the process was amazing. I was a regular visitor to see the work and to take photos. I was always made welcome, coffee provided and explanations given. These guys love what they do and it shows! The finished guitar exceeded all expectation. The tone is incredibly warm, and when put through an amplifier it is amazingly responsive.

If you are thinking of getting a guitar, then think seriously about Lakestone before getting something off the shelf. You will definitely not regret it!

I have just been to Knighton Music Centre and picked up my new Lakestone OM/D. I went in to look at Non Rosewood OM L'arrivee, but it wasn't what I was after. After trying everything else they had, Steve handed me your OM. As soon as I played the first note I knew it was the one.

Just wanted to compliment you on building it. This guitar has such a wondrous tone. I love to hit a chord and listen as it slowly decays, aghast at the sparkle and all the awesome overtones. This one is definitely a keeper, it really speaks to me.

I have a Lakestone OM Cedar top, No. 1. It completely blows me away! You have created something of great beauty.

I sold off and traded in all I had so I could make this guitar mine after playing it at Knighton Music Centre. You have created something of great beauty. Many thanks, and if you ever come over to the shop in Knighton please let me know as it would be tremendous to meet you.

After all these years, I've got my ideal acoustic guitar - a Lakestone JM/C!

I was delighted to be able to select the Cedar top, the Lacewood sides and back (choosing the flat sheets from your stock), the model and shape, with the bevel edge - plus that fantastic L.R. Baggs pick up, to make the guitar that I've always wanted.

Your attention to detail, your craftsmanship and the sheer quality of the wood and the hardware has made this guitar a thing of true beauty. I'm looking forward to enjoying this one for a long time - it's with me for life!

Just wanted to let you know that after owning my Lakestone OM/D for around 6 weeks I am still convinced that it is the best acoustic guitar that I have ever played. The tone is awesome, the playabilty is fantastically easy and intonation all over the fretboard is spot on.

The first time I played it in the shop, I played an E chord, and the tone and volume just blew me away. It still does now, a truly jaw dropping tone. I have very slightly lowered the nut to my preference and I have tried some Heritage low tension strings which really suit it tonally. Many thanks again for building such a wonderful instrument, I absolutely love it and couldn't be happier. Good luck and I hope you sell loads of these truly wonderful, world class acoustic guitars.
